How to train to be a model at home

One of the best things about modelling is that it’s a skill you can start practising from the comfort of your own home! 🏠✨ You don’t need anything fancy to get started—just a bit of time, dedication, and a mirror (plus maybe your selfie camera 😉).

So, how do you train to be a model at home? We’ve narrowed it down to 4 easy and fun steps to kickstart your journey:

1. Get comfortable with looking at yourself in the mirror

First things first—get used to seeing yourself in the mirror. Confidence starts with being comfortable in your own skin, and understanding your angles is a game-changer in modelling.

🔑 How to Start:

  • Find 5 photos of models posing in ways you love.
  • Set up in front of a mirror and replicate those poses. Pay attention to your body positioning, facial expressions, and posture.
  • Once you’ve nailed those poses, transition between them to create a flow. For example, turn one pose into five variations. Voila! You now have a library of 25-30 poses ready for your next photoshoot. 📸

2. Get that selfie camera working!

Yep, selfies aren’t just for fun—they’re also a fantastic training tool. Taking selfies helps you understand how the camera sees you and lets you refine your expressions and angles.

🎯 Pro Tips:

  • Avoid using filters. As tempting as they are, they won’t help you when it’s time for a professional photoshoot.
  • #BonusChallenge: Take 10 selfies, two seconds apart, with slight variations in each pose. Review them to see what works and what doesn’t. Keep practising until you love all 10 shots! 💕

 3. Walk... and Walk.... 👑

Time to bring out your inner runway star! Practising your catwalk at home is the perfect way to build confidence and refine your walk.

🎵 How to Practice:

  • Grab your favourite shoes—heels or flats, whatever makes you feel fab.
  • Put on a killer song (we recommend RuPaul’s Cover Girl 💃) and strut your stuff.

Dedicate just 5-10 minutes a day to practising, and soon you’ll be walking like a pro. Need extra inspo? Watch RuPaul’s legendary catwalk here. 🌟

4. Get some feedback

When you’re ready, show off your skills! Grab a trusted friend or family member and put on a mini show. Let them snap a few photos of your poses and watch your catwalk.

Why Feedback is Key:

  • A fresh set of eyes can catch things you might miss.
  • They can highlight what’s looking amazing and what needs a little tweaking.

Remember:

Becoming a model is a journey, not a sprint. With consistent practice and a little creativity, you’ll be posing like a pro and strutting your stuff in no time. 💪💃

Ready to take your skills to the next level? Dive in, have fun, and trust the process—you’ve got this! 🌟

Remember, becoming a model won't happen overnight but with a bit of work you'll be looking like a pro in no time!
