2017 wrap up – with an introduction to Sammy Taing-Johns

Wow! What a year we've had at Country Girl Management.

This year really has seen some huge growth for CGM. We've travelled internationally for the first time, had opportunities arise for our models with NZ Fashion Week, Lee Denim, Supré, RUSSH Magazine, Boohoo, Stolen Girlfriends Club, and Universal (just to name a few!), and have seen more girls than ever get signed with some of Australia's leading agencies.

Last week, we invited the top talent from around Australia and New Zealand to our National Finals event on the Gold Coast. The 100 finalists has been hand picked by our scouts from each of our preliminary events throughout 2017. As we were faced with the incredible talent at this event, we quickly realised this National Final event would be a game changer. Throughout the 3 days, the girls were trained in a range of different modelling skills, developed their self confidence, and learnt more about the industry. At the end of it all, the girls were invited to walk on the catwalk at Star Casino where the judging panel selected the girls who would progress to the meet and greets with CHIC Management the next day.

A record-breaking 52 models were invited to meet CHIC Management on Tuesday. We are yet to find out how many of those girls are going on to be signed. A number of girls will also be invited to meet with other agencies from around Australia in the new year.

The Winner

On the night, one girl was crowned as the Country Girl Management Model Search 2017 winner. This girl was Sammy Taing-Johns from Melbourne. Check out our interview with Sammy below:

How does it feel being crowned the CGM Model Search 2017 winner?
I feel overwhelmed and honoured to win a competition with so many other beautiful girls who I was competing against.

How has this experience helped your confidence?
Well before the competition I was slightly skeptical about how I naturally looked but after winning my self esteem completely lifted as I was noticed for something that I was previously not sure about.

What's your beauty regime?
I don’t wear make up unless I have an important event. My daily routine for my face is a simple cleanse and moisturise. For more body, exfoliating and moisturising my skin.

What's your most memorable moment with CGM?

When everyone was changing into their formal outfits during intermission and all the girls were helping each other with their dresses, hair and make up. It felt as if we were a team, the support we all had for each other was honestly heart warming. I’m certain all the girls walked away with more friendships they walked in with.

What's your dream job in the modelling world?
To walk and shoot beside some of the best in the industry and hopefully be at a level where modelling takes my life to a whole new place.
